The Forest is a first-person survival horror video game developed by Endnight Games. The game is an open world type, where there are no missions and the only objective for the player is to survive and rescue his missing son, after the plane they were traveling in crashed on an island full of native mutants.

In The Forest, the player is provided with a survival book that will guide them to survive on a forested island after becoming the sole survivor of a plane crash by creating a shelter, weapons, and other survival tools, from Molotov cocktails, traps, even a bow of arrows.

It is also necessary to satisfy both hunger and thirst and not get too cold at night, as this will lead to death. The player inhabits the island along with various mysterious and terrifying creatures, a tribe of cannibals and night mutants, who inhabit caves deep beneath the island and villages above its surface.
