Traveling to the city of Atlantis, Kratos encounters his mother, Callisto, who claims that her brother, Deimos, is still alive. Deimos has been imprisoned and tortured in the realm of death,
Kratos attempts to rescue him, culminating in a confrontation with the God of Death, Thanatos. Ghost of Sparta, chronologically, is the fifth chapter in the series, which focuses on revenge as its central theme.
