Dead Island Riptide is a survival horror ARPG developed by Techland. Riptide is the sequel to Dead Island. The story continues after the survivors escape from Banoi Island and reach Palanai Island, where the infection has spread.

Riptide immediately follows the story of the first game, with the four immune protagonists (Logan, Purna, Xian Mei and Sam B), landing on a military base in the middle of the sea, after escaping the horrors experienced in Banoi.

The moment they land, they are guarded by Colonel Sam Hardy and Frank Serpo, a civilian VIP. They are all locked in a bedroom, where they meet John Morgan (the new protagonist), who is also immune to the infection.
