About This Game
9th Company: Roots of Terror is a real-time strategy game based on the Soviet-Afghan War. It tells the story of young recruits enduring harsh training in Uzbekistan before facing a brutal final stand against Mujahideen fighters in Afghanistan.
The game recreates the battle of “Hill 3234” on January 7, 1988, where the 9th Company of the 345th Guards Airborne Regiment held off 400 Mujahideen and Pakistani mercenaries for two days. Out of 39 soldiers, 6 died, and 28 were wounded. Two were posthumously awarded the Golden Star medal.
